The Eddie Byers Fund is open to grant applications for projects that use English language teaching to help to change lives.
Applicants must be a registered UK charity looking for funding for a specific project or activity that uses English language teaching to enrich and support individuals and communities.
Up to four grants of a maximum £2,500 will be awarded each year. Projects must be non-discriminatory, deliver a significant positive impact and create English language learning opportunities that might not otherwise be available.
The closing date is midnight Friday 7 June.
The Eddie Byers Fund was created in memory of our late chief executive and has helped hundreds of UK refugees as well as school children in Palestine and Tanzania access life-changing language projects.
Hessy Elliott, language programmes manager for grant recipient RefuAid, said: "Without language tuition, refugees are unable to meet members of their new community, book doctor appointments, speak to their child's teacher, apply for jobs or continue their education. The grant has totally transformed their lives."
We know many English UK members and corporate members work closely with charities in your local communities so please do spread the word and encourage them apply
Help raise money to transform lives
The fund is entirely created by donations. We welcome donations at any time but also take on fundraising challenges such as the Yorkshire three peaks challenge last autumn.
This year, we are giving our feet a rest by challenging our minds with a fundraising pub quiz for our members. Come and put your knowledge to the test, socialise and help change lives!
