Olympian to share her story of overcoming the odds at the Marketing Conference
Anna Hemmings rose to the top of her sport, became an Olympian and Britain's most successful female kayaker. But it was not without facing adversity that took her to rock bottom. She will share her incredible journey at the English UK Marketing Conference on Friday 7 February.
Anna's glittering sporting career started at the age of eight with a childhood ambition of becoming an Olympian. She joined the Elmbridge Canoe Club in Surrey and, by the age of 20, she won her first European championship.
Two years later she became the only British female to win the world championship in marathon kayak racing. In 2000, she fulfilled her childhood dream by competing at the Sydney Olympic Games and again at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Anna's journey was not without struggles and adversity, but she persevered and bounced to win even more championships. Anna embodies all three key elements for success: inspiration, determination and resilience. Her achivements were recognised when she was awarded with an Honorary Fellowship from the University of London in 2007 and an MBE in 2010.
Anna now inspires audiences with her tale of triumph over adversity as well as working as a workshop facilitator and business performance coach at Beyond the Barriers, a high performance training consultancy that she founded.
Anna said: "My mission is to make a positive impact on everyone in the audience, to provide them with simple yet powerful and practical strategies that they can take away and apply immediately in their world."
Anna's inspirational story will give you the boost you and your team need to inject refreshed passion and energy into your marketing and promotion.
Tom Weatherley, English UK's conference producer, said: "We are sure Anna will be a fitting close to an audience of the best marketers in the industry, and will give us plenty to talk about over the drinks reception."
The Marketing Conference is a full day of ELT-focused sessions to help you promote your centre and is suitable for school owners, marketing managers and their teams. The conference will be opened by Virgin Money creative director and former Time Out magazine editor, Tim Arthur who will share his experience of building a declining magazine into an international go-to source for global activities.
