Covid Secure online workshops for ELT providers
Ensuring the safety of staff and students is paramount at this time and this session provides an opportunity to look in more depth at how schools can open as safely as possible. The aim is help schools manage the various stages of the student experience, from arrival through first day, lessons, social activities and free time, whilst maintaining a safe environment for all.
The sessions will look at:
- The measures that need to be considered as part of reopening successfully
- Ensuring our risk assessments are as comprehensive as possible
- Scenarios to explore situations to help schools consider the implications in their specific situation
- An opportunity to discuss concerns and share ideas
About the trainers

Barbara Lewin
A freelance safeguarding trainer and consultant with many years' experience of working within the ELT sector, Barbara has a broad understanding of the complexities of the ELT industry. In more recent years, as Group Safeguarding Manager she has delivered in-house training and advice, supporting DSLs within individual schools.
In 2016, Barbara founded and is the Chair of the Sussex Safeguarding Forum, providing a network for Sussex based ELT schools to share advice and guidance and liaise with the relevant local authorities. She is also a Mental Health First Aider for both Adult and Youth.

Kevin O'Donnell
Working with accredited providers since 2009, Kevin has managed year-round junior courses in Scotland, seasonal summer centres and adult training centres in London.
He is a voting member of the Accreditation Scheme Advisory Committee, a safeguarding trainer and audit consultant with English UK. Kevin realised the importance of having crisis management procedures in place while managing a summer centre with over 200 children during the London riots.

Key information
There are two online sessions: one for adult ELT providers, and one for junior providers. These training sessions will take place from 9:30 - 13:00 on Zoom. Participants will receive a digital certificate from English UK after the training.
