English UK: promoting quality English language learning in the UK
English UK: with 350+ members teaching quality English across the UK
We are happy to help journalists with questions about English UK and UK ELT. Contact our external relations manager Susan Young on susan.young@englishuk.com.
Today we published our wide-ranging antiracism plan to promote a fairer, more inclusive and equitable UK ELT sector.
Our new research into the future of Europe as an ELT market has been made exclusively available to members and centres accredited by the British Council.
MPs and peers will lobby the government with recommendations for supporting UK ELT after an evidence session discussing the impact of Covid-19 and Brexit on the sector.
Mark Rendell and Shoko Doherty have been voted the new chair and vice-chair of the English UK Board of Trustees. Both are active members of the ELT industry, running schools in England and Wales. They play a major role in representing the sector both locally and nationally, and believe their experience will be invaluable in helping the industry tackle the challenge of rebuilding after Covid-19 and the withdrawal of EU freedom of movement.
Once again we are hugely disappointed that the government's first review of its traffic-light system not only sees no new countries added to its green list but also contains no indication of when and how countries might be moved to green in future. This is in contrast to the announcement from the Irish government today that arrivals from the EU and elsewhere with a vaccine certificate or a negative Covid-19 test will be welcome there from 19 July without quarantine and other restrictions.
