As part of our ongoing
English is GREAT campaign in Brazil, students were invited to make one-minute films on the subject 'what English means to me'. Next month our fantastic five competition winners will all travel to
different parts of the UK to experience British culture and to spend two weeks improving their English skills in English UK member centres. They'll be sharing their experiences on social media.
In her
winning film (recorded in the English is GREAT pavilion at
BMI Salão do Estudante fairs) Letícia Oliveira said speaking English would help her to understand who she is. Letícia will study at the Wimbledon School of English in
London as a guest of
English UK London. She shares with us a little more about herself below:
"My name is Letícia Oliveira and I'm from Niterói, in Rio.
I entered the competition because I love English and I love travelling.
Here in Brazil I don't get many opportunities to practice the language, so the contest was the perfect shot to try to improve my English and make my first abroad trip. I'm so thrilled about the results and so gratefull!
I live with my family and two adorable dogs, I like reading and writing poetry, singing and listening to music; I love photography, animals, plants and outdoor activities; and I love watching movies and TV shows.
I consider myself as a laid back and easy going person, but also very cheerful and open to new experiences. I'm not a very lucky person, so I'll make the most of this opportunity. Thank you so much!

As well as filming vlogs of their time in the UK, our winners will be at the spring 2016 BMI Salão do Estudante fairs. They will present seminars and share their personal experiences with potential students at the English is GREAT pavilion. If you are an English UK member and want to get involved, you can join us in this pavilion. Over 30,000 students attended the Autumn 2015 fairs in Brazil.
English is GREAT: Speak to the World is a major, multi-channel English UK campaign to promote the UK as the world's premier English language learning destination in Brazil. It is funded by the GREAT UK Challenge Fund.
