Meet our fourth English is GREAT: Speak to the World video competition winner,Ane Karolinne AlvesCavalcante (Karol). The judges gave her top marks for a self-composed song that she performed in four parts.

English is GREAT is a campaign we're running in Brazil to promote studying English in the UK. Students were challenged to make a short film about 'what English means to me'. The rules were simple; the films had to be shorter than one minute, in English, creative, and end with the phrase 'English is GREAT'. The five best won prizes of two-week scholarships to come study English in the UK. The scholarships were donatated by some of English UK's sub-groups.

Watch Karol's video here and learn, in her own words, what motivated her to make it.

"Hi, my name is Ane Karolinne, but everyone calls me Karol.

I'm 20 years old and I'm from Montes Claros – Minas Gerais.I'm a Christian and I work at a Baptist Church: I sing, play the keyboard, the guitar, and I also preach sometimes. I'm studying Law at a State University and I'm going to graduate in 2018. I intend to marry my fiance in 2016. I love music, movies (specially Star Wars) and books.

I entered in this competition because I've dreamed about traveling to other countries since I was a child. I learned English by myself and I always try to overcome my difficulties with the language. I knew it was an amazing opportunity and I couldn't miss it. I spent a lot of time composing my songs in English and learning how to record and edit videos. I never did any of those before. It was quite a challenge!

When I discovered that I was among the five winners, I freaked out, I couldn't believe it. I started crying and thanking God - my dream will come true! I told my mother, called my father and all my family during Christmas. I started jumping with my dogs.

The feeling of my dream coming true will be set in UK. I couldn't be happier than I am now, but I know I will be, because English is GREAT!"

Karol will be hosted by English UK Wales, studying in the capital city for one week at Cardiff Vale College and spend her second week in Swansea at the City School of Languages.
