Fancy 50 per cent off online teacher training for your staff? Then act fast
18 September 2014

No matter whether they have been in the profession for a year or a decade, teachers need Continuing Professional Development. But it can be tricky to fit genuinely useful training into busy lives.

English UK member NILE has been investing in its online teaching technology to provide useful and flexible training courses, and is keen to offer the benefits to fellow English UK member centres. So it's offering 50 per cent off courses beginning in October and 25 per cent off those beginning in January.

Next month's courses include Teaching English for Academic Purposes, Intercultural Awareness in Language Teaching and Classroom Activities, Interaction and Motivation.

Courses are available at different levels, with TIER 1 aimed at teachers who have been in the classroom for less than a year and TIER 2 for more experienced practitioners who are considering specialising. After eight weeks, participants are set a four week assignment on an applied task, often Action Research. Although this is optional, around half are taking up this option.

Joanna Muldoon, Global Marketing and Recruitment Manager for NILE Online, said the courses were run online using a variety of methods, giving as much flexibility as possible to students to work around their other commitments.

"They are eight week courses, with a different unit appearing each week, each of which involves about five hours work. There are webinars, videos and lots of different activities within each unit. Those include videos where you are asked to comment on what is happening in the video.

"It's very interactive. We limit the numbers on each course to 16 to enable lots of feedback from the tutor and we've made sure the tools are easy to use.

"We're getting teachers from all over the world, including the UK, Russia, South America, and from a real variety of teaching institutions."
