English UK and Endsleigh partner to offer new ELT student discount and ID card
A unique discount card for students studying English in the UK launches at our marketing conference in September.
The International Youth Travel Card offers discounts typically between ten and 50 per cent on purchases and experiences and doubles as a photo ID card. It is part of the International Student Identity Card network, the only globally-recognised proof of identification for students studying in 130 different countries.
The card is only available to under-30s enrolled at English UK centres, which will earn revenue on each one sold to their students. Card application is done online, and can be completed before travelling to the UK.
English UK chief executive Jodie Gray said: 'It's brilliant that our students will be able to access all of these benefits and we think the card will be very popular. I remember having an ISIC card when I travelled as a student and I loved it. We're also really pleased that members will benefit from the scheme at a time when Covid has had such an adverse impact on their business.'
Will Brunwin, Head of Travel & Schools at Endsleigh Insurance said: "Endsleigh are really excited to help launch this new and innovative way to drive some extra income into language centres. It will also benefit students with some major discounts, as well as providing a useful form of photo ID. So language centres get both some extra income and an easy way of supporting their duty of care to students. We think it will really take off."
The £15 card is available for ELT students aged 30 and under and includes age as well as name and photo. Endsleigh recommends applying online at least a week before travelling to the UK so that the card is ready at the language centre when they arrive. Discounts can be used online immediately and the physical card takes 5-7 days to arrive at the language centre for the student.
Unlike other versions of the ISIC card, there is no minimum length of study, and the card is valid for a year.
Discounts of typically between ten and 50 per cent are available at thousands of shops, restaurants, cafes and travel and tourism outlets, including the Shard, the Hard Rock Café, Apple and National Express, and the card could pay for itself within two purchases.
English UK members who want to find out more can email Toby Harris or internationalstudentcard@endsleigh.co.uk.
