Description of centre
International House London opened its doors in 1959 and today is known worldwide for its excellence in language teaching and teacher training. Each year we welcome over 8,000 students from around 150 countries. This makes IH London a vibrant and multicultural place to learn.
The atmosphere in the school is most frequently described as “Relaxing, enjoyable and friendly” and yet classes are “focussed, intensive and dynamic” which makes studying here a very special experience. The British Council recently said “the school is comfortably and expensively furnished – an elegant and welcoming learning environment”. It is modern, spacious and light with lots of technology to keep you connected and keep lessons interactive and lively.
IH London is a few minutes’ walk from Covent Garden in the heart of London, surrounded by cafes, theatres and shops. This gives you plenty of opportunity to practise your English and socialise after class.
Our 13-level system, starting at Elementary A2, ensures you always learn with people of a similar ability. With regular feedback from your teacher you will move up through the levels as you improve. 90% of our full time teachers are also qualified teacher trainers. Our highly experienced teaching staff can help you get ready for a Cambridge or IELTS Exam with one of our dedicated Exam Preparation courses.
Business clients can learn the language they need for professional life. Our Executive Centre offers a variety of intensive, specialist Business English courses to help you get ahead in the global marketplace. We can deliver training in our school, at your place of work and overseas.
International House London also runs Young Learner residential courses in Oxford at Easter and in Oxford & Ellesmere during the summer (8-17 year olds). English courses are combined with a range of professionally coached sports and activities in addition to exciting interactive excursions, designed to keep students motivated and engaged during their studies.
Our famous teacher training department runs more CELTA courses than anywhere else in the world, and is also renowned for its face-to-face, blended and e-learning teacher training programmes up to and including the post-graduate Diploma in Educational Management.
