Description of centre
BEET is a family-run independent school, which aims to achieve the highest standards in an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. We are situated in the beautiful seaside town of Bournemouth on the South coast of England, just 100 minutes by train from London. BEET is open all year (except for Christmas and New Year). The school was established in 1979.
BEET is medium-sized, with an average of 180 students from normally between 20 and 40 different countries. This size enables us to provide a properly structured learning programme with the individual attention that students need. The average age is 19 to 35 years. However, there is no upper limit and it is common to have students in their 40’s and 50’s, and older. The minimum age is 16.
BEET is well equipped with modern interactive whiteboards in all our classrooms. We have a library and small bookshop, 2 computer rooms with 34 computers, canteen, free WIFI, and parking. The Beet-online learning platform is used for tutorials and private study and is accessible for 3 months after leaving.
There is an extensive programme of lectures, social evenings, films, music, theatre etc., plus excursions with teachers to London, Oxford, Bath etc. Accommodation is in homestay, executive homestay, student house (self-catering) or en-suite apartments (during the summer months).
BEET offers four Core Programmes: General English, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge Examinations and Teacher Refresher Courses. Students can also follow additional specialised modules from the Options Programme: Speaking, Pronunciation & Listening; Reading, Writing & Vocabulary and exam preparation for IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE.
BEET also owns a dedicated teacher training centre, the International Teaching and Training Centre (ITTC). ITTC works closely with BEET, ensuring that both trainers and trainees have an ongoing working relationship with a thriving and busy language school. Courses offered include Cambridge CELTA, Delta and Teacher Refresher Courses. ITTC is one of the largest individual centres for Cambridge ESOL Teaching Awards. We train over 200 teachers per year for initial teaching certification, and approximately 40 candidates per year to Diploma/Masters level.
