Many English language students stay with local hosts who provide a 'home-from-home' and immersion in the English language during their stay. It gives students the opportunity to live with local people and experience life in a UK home, and provides income and a rewarding cultural exchange for many UK residents.
This workshop for UK ELT providers aims to share best practice on managing homestay accommodation. Diane Phillips will cover the most up-to-date information on all aspects of managing your homestay providers.
Participants will discuss how they can:
- Find and assess accommodation
- Write guidelines for accommodation providers
- Monitor and maintain suitable accommodation
- Discard unsuitable accommodation
- Fulfill their duty of care to all students – adults and under-18s.

About the trainer

Diane Phillips has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer and manager of adult and young learner courses. She is currently a lecturer for the Open University, teaching on the MA in Education programme and is the author of a wide range of in-house and published materials.
She has been a British Council inspector since 2000 and is also a tutor on the English UK Certificate in Student Services Management.

Key information
This training event is a full day workshop running from 11:00 to 17:00. Tea, coffee and lunch are provided. Participants will receive a certificate from the trainer at the end of the session.
