Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us so far - thanks to your generosity we are over half way to our £15,000 target! This will enable to award another round of funding to fantastic language projects for refugees and school children among others.

Donations of all sizes are still very welcome and every penny will be added to the Eddie Byers Fund, which has given refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and school children in Palestine and Tanzania access to life-changing language projects.

We will travel up to Yorkshire tomorrow afternoon and start walking from the small village of Horton in Ribblesdale at 7am on Saturday morning. Follow #euk3peaks for updates.

First we will tackle Ingleborough the second-highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales, then Whernside, the highest at 736 m (2,415 ft) and finally Pen-y-Ghent. We aim to complete the 39km route in 12 hours, gaining over 1700m of ascent in the process.

What is the Eddie Byers Fund?

The Eddie Byers Fund was created in 2016 to transform lives through learning. It was created in memory the late chief executive of English UK, who was passionate about the transformative power of education, to help aspiring students study English for better employment, education and community life.

In its first two years, the Eddie Byers Fund has supported refugees and asylum seekers gain employment, enter education and access essential services and feel a part of their communities in the UK. It has also funded teacher training in Tanzania to help young pupils attend high school, which is taught in English, and English teaching in Palestine.

Eddie believed that education transforms people's lives and wanted English UK to more directly provide learning opportunities to those are disadvantaged. We are proud to create a lasting legacy in his name.

The fund is entirely created by donations and we have been overwhelmed by your kind words and generosity. We welcome donations at any time but also take on fundraising challenges.
