Description of centre
Bury St Edmunds is a really beautiful town architecturally - convenient for trips to London, with history dating back to Roman times and St Edmund, the first English king. There are 40 000 inhabitants and the vibrant, buzzing town is safe and clean. Most students walk or cycle around the town. In addition to the stunning cathedral, abbey gardens, museums, art galleries and iconic Georgian Theatre Royal, there are excellent sporting facilities, great shopping, a wide variety of restaurants, fantastic pubs and a good night-life on offer. Large beautiful parks with nature trails and opportunities for cycling and horse riding are available. BLS English is a medium sized school occupying two buildings near the town centre. We are proud to announce the opening of our new executive Adult Centre which is across the garden from the Junior Residential Centre. Much is within walking distance, and our Host Family accommodation is excellent. BLS English has its own Residential facilities for Adults and Juniors. There are two houses, one a large Victorian villa and the other a smaller cottage with gardens. There are comfortable bedrooms with private bathrooms - many are en-suite. BLS is minutes away from the multiplex cinema complex, new ARC shopping mall, fitness centre, gymnasium, sports pitches and Olympic sized heated swimming pools. Bury St Edmunds is 30 minutes from the famous university city of Cambridge; 75 minutes from London and 25 minutes from Ipswich. Newmarket (famed for horse racing) and the cathedral city of Ely, Norwich, Colchester, Peterborough and the Suffolk Heritage coastline are all within an hour of the town. Direct trains to Bury St Edmunds leave from London Liverpool Street or via Cambridge from Kings Cross. There is a regular coach service from London Victoria Coach station and Underground and train links from London airports. BLS English teachers are passionate about teaching and give each student special attention to help them achieve their personal goals.
